SIP calculator formula

The calculator treats every SIP payment as a separate investment. An early payment has more time to grow. A later payment has less time.

Rate for one period = (1 + yearly return)^(1 ÷ payments per year) − 1

Value of one payment = payment × (1 + period rate)^(periods left)

Future value = add the future value of every payment
Total invested = payment × number of payments
Estimated gain = future value − total invested

Monthly means 12 payments a year. Weekly means 52, every 15 days means 24, quarterly means 4 and yearly means 1.

For example, a 12% yearly return becomes about 0.95% for one month. It is not treated as a simple 1% a month.

Example with numbers

Suppose you invest ₹10,000 every month for 10 years. You put in ₹12,00,000 in total. At a steady 12% yearly return, with each payment made at the start of the month, the estimated value is about ₹22,40,359. The estimated gain is about ₹10,40,359.

What is SIP and what does this calculator show?

SIP means Systematic Investment Plan. It is a way to invest a chosen amount at regular times, often in a mutual fund. SIP is the payment method. It is not a fixed-return product.

This online SIP calculator shows a possible future value from the amount, frequency, time and return entered by you. It also separates your own money from the estimated gain.

How to use the SIP calculator

  1. Enter how much you want to invest each time.
  2. Choose weekly, every 15 days, monthly, quarterly or yearly. Monthly is selected first.
  3. Enter the number of years and the yearly return you want to test.
  4. Press Calculate SIP. Then read the summary, pie chart, growth chart and yearly table.

What the results mean

  • Total invested: all SIP payments added together.
  • Estimated gain: future value minus the money invested.
  • Estimated future value: the possible balance at the end of the chosen time.
  • Value in today’s money: an optional view after allowing for inflation.

How this SIP calculator works

The calculator moves through the plan one payment at a time. It adds the payment, applies growth for the time left and repeats the same work for the next payment.

This matters because all your money is not invested on day one. The yearly table lets you see that process instead of hiding it behind one final number.

Why this SIP calculator is useful

  • You can test five investment frequencies.
  • You can type normal amounts or Indian shorthand such as 25k and 1 lakh.
  • It shows invested money, gain, charts and yearly growth separately.
  • You can save the result on your device, share it, print it or download the table.

Why your SIP result may be different

Mutual fund prices do not rise by the same amount every month. Markets can go up, fall or stay weak for a long time. A smooth return is only an example.

Actual dates, missed payments, fund costs, exit load, tax and rounding can also change the final amount. Your fund statement is the record of the real value.

Frequently asked questions

How much will my SIP grow?

It depends on each payment, the number of payments and the real market return. Enter your own figures to see an estimate.

Is SIP return guaranteed?

No. SIP is only a regular way of investing. A market-linked investment does not promise a fixed return.

Can I calculate a weekly or quarterly SIP?

Yes. You can choose weekly, every 15 days, monthly, quarterly or yearly.

Why is a start-of-period SIP slightly higher?

That payment gets one more period of growth than a payment made at the end of the period.

Does this SIP calculator include inflation?

Inflation is optional. Turn it on in Advanced options to see an estimate in today’s money.

Why does my fund statement show another amount?

Your statement uses real NAV dates, charges and returns. This calculator uses one steady return chosen by you.
