This page explains how ArthiQuery uses cookies, browser storage and similar technology. It also explains privacy choices available to visitors under laws such as the UK GDPR and EU GDPR where they apply.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of information saved by a website in your browser. Cookies can help a website work, remember a choice, measure usage or support advertising.
Local storage is similar, but information is stored inside the browser rather than in a traditional cookie.
Essential website storage
WordPress, the website host or security services may use essential cookies to:
- Deliver and protect the website
- Keep administrators securely signed in
- Prevent misuse
- Remember necessary technical settings
- Store a visitor’s cookie choice
Essential storage may be used without optional advertising or analytics consent when the law permits it.
Calculator history
When you deliberately select Save on a calculator, ArthiQuery stores that calculation in local browser storage on your device.
Calculator storage may use names such as:
arthiquery-calculator-[calculator-name]-history-v2arthiquery_ssy_history_v1
This information:
- Is saved only after you choose Save
- Stays in that browser and on that device
- Is not posted to the WordPress database by the calculator plugin
- Remains until you delete it or clear the website’s browser data
A shared calculation may use an aqc_state value inside the page URL. This is a URL parameter, not a cookie. The value may contain the calculator assumptions being shared.
WordPress cookies
WordPress may use cookies beginning with names such as:
wordpress_logged_in_wordpress_sec_wp-settings-wp-settings-time-
These are mainly used for website administration, security and logged-in preferences. Ordinary visitors who do not sign in may not receive these cookies.
If comments are enabled later, WordPress may offer visitors a choice to save their comment name and email in cookies.
Analytics cookies
ArthiQuery may use Google Analytics after analytics has been enabled.
Google Analytics may use cookies such as:
_ga_ga_<measurement-id>
Google states that these cookies can have a default duration of up to two years. Settings and durations may be changed by ArthiQuery or Google.
Analytics can help us understand:
- Which calculators are visited
- General device and browser information
- General location
- Session and engagement information
- Website errors and performance
We will not deliberately send your name, email address or calculator inputs to Google Analytics.
Where consent is legally required, optional analytics storage should remain disabled until you choose to accept it.
Advertising cookies
ArthiQuery may use Google AdSense or other advertising services in the future.
Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology to:
- Display advertisements
- Limit how often an advertisement appears
- Measure advertisement performance
- Prevent advertising fraud
- Personalise advertisements where permission has been given
Third-party vendors, including Google, may show advertisements based on a visitor’s earlier visits to ArthiQuery or other websites.
You can manage Google personalised-advertising choices through Google Ads Settings.
Even non-personalised advertisements may use limited cookies for functions such as frequency limits, security and aggregated reporting.
Current calculator plugin
The ArthiQuery calculator plugin itself does not add an external analytics or advertising script. Optional analytics or advertising services must be separately enabled by the website owner.
This page will be updated when a new provider or tracking purpose is introduced.
Consent choices
Where consent is required:
- Optional analytics and advertising storage should not be used before consent.
- Accepting optional cookies should be a clear choice.
- Refusing optional cookies should not stop essential calculator access.
- You should be able to change or withdraw your choice.
Withdrawing consent affects future processing. It does not make processing that happened before withdrawal unlawful.
Managing browser storage
You can use your browser settings to view, block or delete cookies and local storage.
Blocking all browser storage may affect:
- Saved calculator history
- Login features
- Security settings
- Cookie preferences
- Some embedded or third-party services
You can remove saved calculator entries using the calculator’s Delete option or by clearing site data for ArthiQuery.in in your browser.
Your GDPR rights
Where the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or similar law applies, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion
- Restrict processing
- Object to processing
- Receive portable data
- Withdraw consent
- Complain to a data protection authority
